This restored and partly re-constructed enchanting medieval borgo is approximately 750 meters above sea level and situated near the Tuscan border close to Chuisi and Chianciano-Terme; being equidistant between Rome and Florence.

Le Ginestre offers a unique opportunity to experience the peace and tranquillity of the Umbrian countryside, close to Lake Trasimeno (20 km) and with many major sightseeing towns within approx 1 hours drive. These include Perugia, Assisi, Montepulciano, Spoleto, Montefalco and Orvieto to mention just a few of the many places in the area to visit. An Italian road atlas and guidebooks are available in the house to help our guests plan their days out.

For those that would like a break from driving, the trip to Rome, Florence and many other destinations can be made easily by train from either Orvieto or Chiusi which offers a fast and reliable service.

Le Ginestre offers those who enjoy walking ample opportunity to explore the surrounding hills and countryside. Walking maps are available in the house.

Le Ginestre is the ideal location for children, offering them a safe, car-free environment where they can play or explore the porcupine or wild boar trails, see or hear the many birds that are rarely if ever seen at home in the UK.

The neighbouring village of Castiglion Fosco, just 3.5 km down the road offers a good Alimentari with a small selection of fresh meat and fresh bread, deli etc., a Farmacia, 24hr Petrol Station, Café and tennis courst (tickets available from the café), post office (infrequent opening hours). Tavernelle, our local town, offers are more varied selection of supermarkets, shops, banks, post office, Monday market and other services.
