Casa Merlo is a traditionally-built stone cottage which is part of the reconstructed and part restored Borgo (Hamlet) of Le Ginestre di Greppolischieto. Le Ginestre is located near the Umbrian/Tuscan Border surrounded by wooded hills and open farmland. Le Ginestre is the ideal location to switch-off from the toils of everyday life and lose oneself in the tranquillity and beauty of the local countryside. The perfect location to relax and read, paint or just simply listen to the sounds of nature.
For those who need a little more action to unwind, the cottage is surrounded by beautiful walks across the hills, over open countryside or through the dense forests and untouched valleys. Mountain bike trails, like the hiking trails, can be found in the adjacent countryside; maps showing the trails together with guidebooks and an Italian Road Atlas can be found in the house. Casa Merlo has been reconstructed using traditional Umbrian building materials and methods. It has antique 'cotta' floors throughout, beamed ceilings and trompe d'oeil to several of the walls. Casa Merlo also has private gardens to the front and rear of the house with spectacular views and day-long sunshine in a beautiful and tranquil setting. |
